Section B
Service Terms
These terms apply to all quotations, bookings, visits and exterior cleaning services supplied by Wight Cleaning Co, whether for domestic or commercial customers.
Some clauses below apply mainly to commercial or contractor-managed sites, while others apply to both domestic and commercial work.
Domestic work: applies to homes, patios, gutters, windows, render, driveways and similar residential work.
Commercial work: applies to depots, business premises, offices, managed sites, agencies and contractor-led works.
Scheduling
Scheduled Visits
Where services are provided on a recurring basis, including weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual visits, each agreed visit shall be treated as a scheduled service visit.
Reasonable adjustments to the schedule may be made where weather, access issues, site restrictions or other operational factors prevent the service being carried out on the exact planned date.
Additional visits requested outside the agreed service frequency may be subject to availability and a separate quotation.
Quotes
Quotations
All quotations are based on the information provided at the time, along with the site conditions reasonably expected from that information.
If additional requirements, restricted access, hidden obstructions, unexpectedly heavy soiling, larger-than-described areas, specialist access needs, traffic management needs, permit requirements, or other unforeseen conditions are found on arrival, the quotation may need to be revised.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, quotations assume normal and reasonable access to the work area and the availability of any utilities required to complete the work.
Access
Site Readiness & Access
The customer is responsible for ensuring the site is ready for the scheduled works at the agreed time.
This includes, where relevant:
- safe and unobstructed access to the work area
- suitable parking for our vehicle, trailer and equipment where required
- the removal of vehicles, bins, stock, plant, equipment or other obstacles from the work area
- clear access through gates, yards, depots, compounds or service roads
- notification of any restricted hours, lockouts, permit systems or site rules
- ensuring someone authorised is available where access or sign-off is needed
If we are delayed, restricted or prevented from working because the area is not ready, this may lead to additional charges, rescheduling, or an attendance charge where works cannot proceed.
Access
Specialist Access Equipment
Quotations are based on the access method reasonably expected from the information provided at the time of quoting.
Where specialist access equipment such as cherry pickers, scaffold towers, scaffolding or similar equipment is required due to building height, restricted access, site layout or safety requirements, additional charges may apply unless previously included within the quotation.
Where such access equipment is not reasonably practical or cannot be arranged, certain areas may be excluded from the service unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Commercial
Commercial Site Requirements
For commercial, managed, agency or contractor-led work, all site-specific requirements must be disclosed before the booking is confirmed.
This includes but is not limited to:
- site inductions
- PPE requirements
- permits to work
- traffic management restrictions
- escort requirements
- CSCS or other card requirements
- out-of-hours limitations
- welfare, water or drainage restrictions
- special method statement or client approval procedures
If such requirements are not disclosed in advance and they prevent or materially delay the works, the visit may need to be rescheduled and a reasonable attendance charge or revised quotation may apply.
Utilities
Water Supply
Where water is required, the customer must provide access to a suitable water supply unless otherwise agreed in writing beforehand.
If no suitable supply is available, or if the only available water source requires significant transport, storage, filling time, bowser use, hose routing or other additional labour, this may alter the time required and the price quoted.
Unless specifically included in the quotation, prices do not automatically include extended water transfer operations, multiple fills, or the supply of mobile water storage for large commercial sites.
Service Specific
Gutter, Fascia & Soffit Cleaning
Gutter clearance is intended to remove accessible debris and improve water flow. It does not guarantee the identification or correction of every leak, failed joint, blocked underground drain, defective bracket, poor fall, or other pre-existing defect within the guttering or drainage system.
Clearing visible debris does not always confirm that the full drainage system is free-flowing unless flow testing, downpipe testing or further drainage investigation is specifically included in the quotation.
Cleaning of fascias, soffits and gutters can significantly improve appearance, but some staining, oxidation, weathering or discolouration may remain.
Service Specific
Window & Conservatory Cleaning
Window Cleaning
Window cleaning is carried out using appropriate methods for the property and access available. First cleans may produce spotting or runs where frames, seals or vents are heavily soiled beforehand. Results may improve on subsequent maintenance cleans.
We reserve the right not to clean windows which appear unsafe, damaged, loose, poorly sealed or otherwise unsuitable for cleaning.
Wight Cleaning Co cannot be held responsible for leaks or issues arising from pre-existing failed seals, perished beading, cracked panes, rotten frames, defective vents or other pre-existing window defects.
Conservatory Cleaning
Conservatory roofs, panels, trims and seals may become brittle, fragile or deteriorated with age. Cleaning may improve appearance significantly, but cannot restore failed glazing units, staining within panels, internal condensation, blown units, algae between panels, or defects caused by age or previous installation issues.
Heavily oxidised or weathered plastic trims and roof components may not return to a completely uniform finish after cleaning.
Practical
Drainage, Fixtures & Surrounding Items
The customer should make us aware of any delicate external fixtures including cameras, sensors, lights, sockets, doorbells, loose cables, decorative fittings or known damaged items near the work area.
The customer must also notify us of any known hazards, restricted areas, fragile surfaces or operational risks prior to the scheduled visit.
Customers should also remove or protect any fragile movable items where reasonably possible, including ornaments, planters, cushions, lightweight furniture or decorations.
Unless specifically included in the quotation, gutter clearance or external cleaning does not automatically include full drainage investigation, underground blockage diagnosis or dismantling of pipework.
Protection
Abortive Visits / Attendance Charges
If we attend site and are unable to carry out the works, in full or in part, due to matters outside our control, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable attendance fee to reflect time, travel and costs incurred in connection with the booking.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- site not being ready
- vehicles or equipment not moved from the work area
- lack of access to the required area
- water, power or other agreed utilities not being available
- undisclosed site rules, inductions or certification requirements
- client representatives not being available to provide access or instruction
- conditions on site being materially different from what was described when quoted
Any such fee is intended to reflect reasonable time, travel, labour and vehicle costs incurred in connection with the booking.
Booking Changes
Cancellations & Rescheduling
We ask that cancellations and rescheduling requests are made with as much notice as possible.
If a booking is cancelled at short notice, or after labour, equipment and travel time have been committed, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable cancellation or attendance fee to reflect costs incurred.
Where a specific day has been reserved for a larger job, commercial booking or specialist visit, any such charge may reflect the time and resources committed to that booking.
Results
Staining, Soiling & Cleaning Results
Exterior cleaning can significantly improve the appearance of most surfaces, but results cannot be guaranteed to be uniform or perfect in every case.
Some marks may only be reduced rather than fully removed, especially where staining has penetrated the surface or where the surface has aged unevenly over time.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- oil stains
- rust staining
- battery acid or chemical contamination
- tannin or leaf staining
- black spot or deeply rooted biological staining
- old paint, sealers, coatings or residue
- weathering, etching or permanent discolouration
Unless expressly agreed in writing, quotations are for a professional cleaning service and not for guaranteed stain removal or full surface restoration.
Pressure Washing
Pressure Washing, Re-Sanding & Surface Movement
Pressure washing can dislodge sand, mortar fragments, loose pointing, flakes of old coating, moss, debris and other unstable material as part of the cleaning process.
For block paving in particular, kiln-dried jointing sand may be reduced or removed during cleaning. Re-sanding is not included unless specifically stated in writing.
Cleaning may also reveal pre-existing defects that were previously hidden by dirt, algae, staining or debris.
Wight Cleaning Co is not responsible for the natural movement or loss of already loose jointing sand, unstable pointing, cracked mortar, deteriorated sealants or other worn surface materials disturbed during a normal cleaning process.
Records
Photos, Video Recording & Job Records
Wight Cleaning Co may take photographs and/or video recordings before, during and after works for operational purposes including quotations, job records, quality control, training, health and safety, and the resolution of complaints or disputes.
Images or video may also be used for promotional purposes such as our website, social media, online portfolios or marketing materials where appropriate.
Where reasonably possible, recordings will focus on the work being carried out rather than individuals. Care will be taken to avoid identifying people, neighbouring properties, vehicle registration numbers or other personal information where practical.
If a customer has specific concerns about images or recordings being used for promotional purposes, or wishes specific areas or identifying features not to be used for marketing, they may notify us before work begins and we will make reasonable efforts to respect this request.
Practicalities
Weather Conditions
Some services may need to be delayed, paused or rescheduled where weather conditions make the work unsafe, ineffective or unreasonable to complete.
This includes heavy rain, ice, freezing temperatures, strong wind, electrical storm risk, or any other condition that may affect safe working or the quality of the result.
Practicalities
Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform our obligations where this is caused by events outside our reasonable control.
This includes, but is not limited to, severe weather, government restrictions, utility disruption, equipment failure, industrial action, acts of God, or other force majeure events which prevent or materially hinder the safe delivery of the service.
Where such an event occurs, services may be postponed, suspended or rearranged within a reasonable period.
Condition of Property
Pre-existing Damage & Fragile Areas
Wight Cleaning Co cannot be held responsible for issues arising from pre-existing defects, weak substrates or previously damaged areas.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- loose or hollow render
- cracked pointing or masonry
- damaged guttering or brackets
- failed seals
- aged UPVC trims
- loose tiles, slabs or coping stones
- poor previous repairs
- deteriorated paint, coating or sealant systems
Where we believe a surface is unsafe or unsuitable to clean, we reserve the right to refuse, alter or stop the works.
Payment
Payment Terms
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due upon completion of the work.
For commercial clients, contractors or account customers, separate payment terms may be agreed in advance and shown on the quotation or invoice.
Any attendance charge, reasonable cancellation charge or additional amount due because of undisclosed site requirements shall be payable in accordance with the invoice issued.
For commercial clients, we reserve the right to charge interest and reasonable recovery costs on overdue invoices in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Liability
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wight Cleaning Co shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity or delay, arising from the use of our website or the supply of our services.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.
Admin
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. The latest version will always be published on this page and will apply from the stated update date.
Legal
Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising in relation to these terms or our services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
