Yes - professional window cleaning and exterior cleaning can currently continue during the Isle of Wight hosepipe ban. The current restrictions mainly apply to certain household uses of hosepipes and do not currently prevent Wight Cleaning Co from using water as part of a paid cleaning service.

Can My Window Cleaning Still Go Ahead?

Yes. Regular and one-off window cleaning appointments can continue as normal. The same currently applies to pressure washing, conservatory roof cleaning, fascia and soffit cleaning, solar panel cleaning, and other professional exterior cleaning services.

You do not need to cancel an existing booking because of the current hosepipe restrictions, and we are still accepting new bookings across the Isle of Wight.

Why Can Professional Cleaners Continue?

The current hosepipe ban is officially known as a Temporary Use Ban. It mainly restricts household customers from using hosepipes for activities such as watering gardens, washing private vehicles, and cleaning patios or outdoor surfaces themselves.

Water used directly as part of a professional cleaning service is treated differently. Restrictions aimed specifically at commercial activities would normally be introduced under a separate and more serious measure known as a Non-Essential Use Ban.

A Non-Essential Use Ban is not currently in place on the Isle of Wight, meaning professional window cleaners and exterior cleaning businesses can continue working.

Are Professional Cleaners Exempt from the Hosepipe Ban?

You may hear this described as a commercial exemption, although it is more accurate to say that professional exterior cleaning is not currently prohibited by the Temporary Use Ban.

This does not mean businesses can use unlimited amounts of water. We still have a responsibility to work efficiently, avoid unnecessary waste, and use only the water needed to complete each job properly.

Can I Clean My Own Patio or Windows?

The rules are different for household customers using their own hosepipe. During the ban, you should not normally use a hosepipe to clean windows, exterior walls, patios, paths, driveways, or other outdoor surfaces yourself.

What Services Can Still Go Ahead?

Wight Cleaning Co can currently continue providing window cleaning across the Isle of Wight, along with pressure washing, conservatory cleaning, solar panel cleaning, fascia and soffit cleaning, and commercial exterior cleaning.

Our purified water-fed pole systems allow us to control the water flow while cleaning windows, and our pressure washing equipment is switched off whenever it is not actively being used.

Could the Rules Change?

Yes. Southern Water may introduce further restrictions if water supplies come under greater pressure. A Non-Essential Use Ban could place additional limits on some commercial cleaning activities.
